Reported by Wuerqihan Forestry Bureau in Yakeshi city, Inner Mongolia Autonomous region, and approved by State Forestry Bureau, the project of xing'anli wetland natural protection zone is now under infrastructure construction.
Situated at the western foot of the hinterland of Great Xing'an Mountains, Xing'anli natural wetland protection zone covers an area of 60.68 million hectares. The wetland protection zone boosts totally 302 kinds of wild animals, 774 kinds of higher wild plants, 320 kinds of insects, 65 kinds of large fungus, as well as 51 kinds of wildlife that are under state protection.
As is learned that, Xing'anli wetland natural protection zone is the first high-altitude forest wetland so far in China. The establishment of Xing'anli natural protection zone will play a vital role in maintaining and improving the ecological environment of Haila'er River valley and Hulunbei'er prairie, as well as adjusting the regional fresh water resources and improving water quality.
