A peak of returning passengers has been seen across the country on May 7, the last day of the May Day "Golden Week" holidays, and extra flights and trains were added to best meet the needs of travelers, according to the National Leading Group for Holiday Tourism.
As initial statistics show, the 116 key tourist attractions totally received travelers of 17.46 million person-times with ticket sales about RMB 570 million yuan, which remarkably drove up catering and commercial businesses.
Travelers to Beijing totaled 4.16 million person-times and realized RMB 3.51 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14 percent and 40 percent respectively.
957 delegations with 18, 000 people from Shanghai traveled out of China's mainland, up 25.3 percent and 10.5 percent over the same period last year.
Tourists in Tianjin brought the city RMB 1.73 billion yuan of revenue, up 10.5 percent.
