Chinese vice president meets Cyprian FM

Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong met Monday afternoon with visiting Cyprian Foreign Minister George Iacovou.

Zeng said China and Cyprus have enjoyed traditional friendship, and the bilateral ties have maintained good momentum for development.

The two countries have no conflict of interest, and have made progress on economic, trade, and cultural cooperation, he said, adding that new opportunities to further bilateral cooperation had appeared since Cyprus participated in the European Union.

Zeng expressed appreciation for Cyprus's adherence to the one- China policy, saying that China will work with Cyprus to push forward the bilateral ties.

Iacovou said Cyprus attaches importance to the relations with China, and hopes to further cooperation on political, economic, cultural and educational areas.

He said Cyprian government adheres to one-China principle, and supports China's peaceful reunification cause.
