The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) said Wednesday it has issued identification cards for 1,103 local and international observers as well as journalists who will monitor and cover Sunday's national elections respectively.
NEBE Chairman Kemal Bedri told journalists that some 463 local and 390 international observers received the IDs.
Moreover, he said more than 250 local and international journalists obtained IDs to cover the electoral process.
Election guidelines, documents, posters and forms have also been distributed to polling stations across the nation, Kemal said, adding that distribution of election materials to polling stations had already been finalized.
He also said NEBE would investigate various complaints presented by contesting parties.
NEBE is responsible for the administration, conduct and supervision of all elections in Ethiopia's federal and state constituencies.
More than 25.6 million of Ethiopia's 74.2 million people have registered to vote in the upcoming elections. Thirty-six political parties will contest places in the House of Peoples' Representatives, the lower house of parliament.
Voters will also elect representatives in nine regional state parliaments that appoint members of the 112-seat Council of the Federation, the upper house.
Ethiopia holds national polls every five years.
