Argentina demands delay of debt payments to IMF
font size

Argentina on Friday asked for a delay in the payment of 1.463 billion US dollars in debts to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) due in the coming months.

Economy Minister Roberto Lavagna told local media that the government was seeking an agreement with the IMF to facilitate the payment of debt installments.

In Washington, IMF Spokesman Thomas Dawson said Thursday that the board of the organization would examine the Argentine request concerning the payments due in May-December.
