US university awards doctorate to Chinese humanitarian

The Boise State University in Idaho, US, awarded an honorary doctorate to Deng Pufang, president of China Disabled Person's Federation May 14, 2005 (local time) to commend his academic fruits in study of humanitarianism and outstanding contribution made in improving human rights conditions of the disabled.

Vice president of China Disabled Person's Federation Shen Zhifei received the certificate on behalf of Deng Pufang.

This is the first time the Boise State University has awarded an honorary doctorate to a non-US citizen. More than 10,000 students,fauclties and represtive attended the ceremony.
