China protects Internet copyright through legislation
font size

The Administrative Measures for Internet Copyright Protection jointly issued by the National Copyright Administration and the Ministry of Information Industry will be implemented on May 30. This is another legislative step China takes to improve the legal protection system for Internet copyright following the Supreme Court's Interpretation of Several Issues Concerning the Laws Applicable to the Hearing of Copyright Disputes Involving Computer Networks.

By the end of last year China had had ten Internet skeleton networks, more than 800 Internet information access service providers, nearly 10,000 Internet information service providers, hundreds of thousands websites and nearly 100 million netizens. The fast-growing Internet has made considerable contribution to the development of China's information industry. At the same time network copyright has become a problem impeding the further development of China's Internet. The release of the Administrative Measures for Internet Copyright Protection will contribute to both China's Internet copyright protection and the development of information industry.
