China will release reports of its first ever survey on youth employment on an international forum about youth employment scheduled for May 20-21, according to the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC) Thursday.
Jointly conducted by the All-China Youth Federation (ACYF) and a research institute of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the survey was conducted by a random sampling of youth aged 15 to 29 and their employers. It was carried out in four cities -- Dalian in northeast China, Tianjin in north China, Changsha and Liuzhou, in central-south and south China -- from January 24 to March 4.
According to ACYF Deputy Secretaries-General Jiang Guangping, the main purpose of the survey was aimed to learn about the employment situation of youngsters after graduation.
Jiang said the upcoming forum is to promote international exchanges and cooperation in youth employment and to discuss ways to improve China's youth employment situation.
The two-day forum will focus on "Youth employment: active factors for building a harmonious society." About 100 participants from both at home and overseas will join the forum, including representatives from international organizations, domestic and foreign youth organizations, government officials and entrepreneurs.
They will exchange their experience in promoting youth employment and discuss the relations between youth employment and building a harmonious society.
The forum will also announce the formal establishment of the office of the United Nations Youth Employment Network China Program.
