Several firebombs hit the Syrian embassy in Berlin early Tuesday, causing no injuries, local police said.

Five people were inside the embassy compound in central Berlin's Tiergarten district when unknown attackers threw Molotov cocktails and hit an outside wall of the embassy, police said.

Police are investigating whether there is political motive behind the attack.

Security measures around the embassy have been strengthened.
