An Italian festival will be held in Beijing's Chaoyang Park from May 29 to June 2, offering ordinary Chinese people an opportunity to learn about Italian culture, the Italian ambassador to China said here Thursday.
Ambassador Gabriele Menegatti said at a press conference that the festival, titled "Italy in Chaoyang Park," is aimed to introduce a "complete and comprehensive" image of Italy and teach about Italian culture and customs.
During the five-day festival, sponsored by Italian Ministry of Production Activities and Italian Trade Commission, visitors can join in Italian cultural and sports activities, watch films and a fashion show, and go boating aboard Venetian yacht on the lake of the park. Italian cuisine will also be offered.
According to Gianni Gorreri, general director of Italian Trade Commission, an exhibition of Italian shoes is arranged for May 29,an open-air concert for June 1 and a fashion show for June 2.
"We hope Chinese visitors can have a taste the Italian culture and customs in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere," he said.
