font size

Two suicides detonated car bombs outside an Iraqi military base on Saturday, killing at least five Iraqis and wounding some 40 others, Dubai-based al-Arabiyah TV reported.

The coordinated blasts took place at about 8:20 a.m. (0420 GMT) at an entrance to the base in Sinjar town, some 150 km west of the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, the channel said.

At least five bodies and 40 wounded were evacuated to Sinjar Hospital, most of them were soldiers and people seeking jobs at the army base, the report added.

US and Iraqi troops cordoned off the area as ambulances ferried casualties to the hospital in the town, according to the channel.
