Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf met with visiting Indian opposition leader Lal Krishan Advani in Islamabad's twin city of Rawalpindi on Tuesday, the local news agency News Network International reported.
President Musharraf and Advani, who is on a week-long visit to Pakistan, met nearly an hour and the two reviewed the ongoing Indo- Pak peace process.
Musharraf appreciated the role that parliamentarians of the two countries could play in creating an enabling environment for the resolution of all outstanding issues including the Kashmir dispute, said a statement issued by the Office of Spokesman of Foreign Affairs Ministry here.
The president emphasized that with sincerity, flexibility and courage, the Kashmir dispute can be resolved.
Advani, also president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), thanked Musharraf for his role in bringing about normalcy in Pakistan-India relations.
He said that his party fully supports the ongoing peace process.
Lal Krishan Advani was born in Hyderabad in Sindh province of Pakistan and studied in Karachi in St. Patrick's High School where President Musharraf had also received education.
