China actively supports domestic animation industry

The National Film, TV and Animated Cartoon Working Meeting was held on June 1 in Hangzhou. Wang Taihua, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and Director-General of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT), said at the meeting that China would continue to expand the broadcasting scale of homemade animated cartoons; encourage and support local TV stations to broadcast fine homemade animated cartoons during the golden broadcasting slots.

The SARFT plans to expand the broadcasting scale of homemade animated cartoons; vigorously carry out excellent homemade animation programs; step up the enacting of specific policies in 18 aspects such as constructing homemade animation industrial base and animation teaching and research base etc. to support the development of domestic animations.

Currently the Specific Measures on Promoting the Production and Development of Homemade Animations is soliciting opinions from various circles.

Wang Taihua said the local governments should seriously study and effectively use the various preferential policies granted by central government and local governments to attract domestic capitals, particularly private capitals, to participate in the development of homemade animation industry.
