China's stocks soars over 8% on June 8

The composite indexes of both Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges jumped by more than 8 percent on Wednesday, spurred by encouraging news including one that denied a central bank plan for interest rate increase.

The Shanghai bourse closed at 1,115.58 points, up 8.21 percent, with total a turnover of 19 billion yuan (2.3 billion US dollars). The Shenzhen stock exchange closed at 2,936.57 points, up 8.38 percent, with a total turnover of 11.5 billion yuan.

Wednesday's total turnover in both Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges was about three times that of the daily turnover for the last few months.
