Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, who is also Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has promoted over 100 army officers, mainly in the air force and the army political department, local media reported on Thursday.

According to army headquarters, presidential pilot Brig. Ali Kizza is promoted to a major general.

In the air force, 25 captains have been promoted to major and 27 lieutenants are now captains.

Army spokesman Shaban Bantariza now becomes lieutenant colonel from major. He is among the 17 officers in the political department of the army who have been promoted.

Several medical doctors and legal officers in the army were also promoted.

The promotion comes less than a year after President Museveni promoted over 600 officers of the army.
