Government leads search for skullcap fossils of Peking ManA committee for search of the skullcap fossils of Peking Man will be officially set up on July 2, 2005. As the first such organization formed in the name of government, the committee will coordinate in a unified manner the search for the skullcap fossils, which have been lost for more than 60 years. The move will advance the search from previous actions by non-governmental organizations and appeal. The government of Beijing's Fangshan District released a hotline (010-69301287) for the search. "Organization by government authorities is needed in the search for such important cultural relics and scientific materials, especially those related to foreign governments and people. For example, the clues concerning Japan and the Republic of Korea must be handled through diplomatic channels", said Yang Haifeng, director of administration for Peking Man Site at Zhoukoudian.
