Russia is capable of solving tasks of a new quality in the fields of economy, science and industry, and all Russian people make efforts to build the country as a prosperous, free, mighty and influential country, President Vladimir Putin said at the reception devoted to the Day of Russia on Sunday.

"Nowadays we are capable of solving tasks of a new quality, including profound modernization of the economy, a crucial change in the attitude to science and education, development of a market of accessible housing, and renovation of the industrial and transport infrastructure," President Vladimir Putin was quoted by the Itar-Tass news agency as saying.

"All of us want Russia to be a prosperous, free, mighty and influential country. These feelings unite us and give us strength and capacity for implementing national goals, which are in demand by the entire society," said the president.

On Sunday, over 32,000 people are celebrating the Day of Russia in Moscow, head of the city police press center Yevgeny Gildeyev was quoted as saying by Itar-Tass.

About 15,000 are attending a concert on Red Square. "700 police officers are checking the viewers for armaments and explosives," he said.

Besides, about 10,000 people are taking part in the Beer Festival in Luzhniki, and 7,000 are celebrating on Poklonnaya Hill.

Two soccer games are over at the Dynamo and Torpedo stadiums. Around 4,000 people watched the Dynamo-Alania game, and 8,000 watched the other game.

"Both games were calm, and no one was detained," the head said.
