Chinese embassy: Japan should guarantee safety of Kao Chin Su-mei

Commenting on Taiwanese Kao Chin Su-mei's protest at the Yasukuni Shrine, spokesman of the Chinese embassy in Japan Huang Xingyuan said that a group of Taiwan people led by Kao Chin Su-mei arrived in Japan on June 13, demanding the Shrine to return tablets of Taiwanese who were forced to war by Japanese militarists and consequently lost their lives during the WWII.

Their request deserves understanding and respect, Huang said. China is very much concerned about the reported threat by a handful of Japanese right-wing forces to stage terror and harassment against the group. The Japanese side should take necessary measures to ensure their personal security during their stay in Japan, Huang said, according to a report from Tokyo by China News Service.

It is learned that the consular section of the Chinese embassy in Japan has lodged the above-mentioned requirement to the Japanese side.
