Qurei will not reshuffle cabinet: sources
font size

Palestinian security sources denied on Wednesday that Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei will reshuffle his cabinet due to postponement of the legislative election.

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas issued a decree few days ago, deciding to postpone the election originally due on July 17.

The sources denied that in the new cabinet, the Interior Ministry would be split into two ministries -- one for the national security and the other for internal security.

The sources said that the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) and the cabinet insist on merging security apparatuses and reforming institutions.

Some reports had claimed that several ministers would be replaced by new ones, except those of foreign affairs, finance and information.
