A three-day painting and photo exhibition kicked off in Kathmandu Thursday to mark the golden jubilee of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China.
A total of 31 paintings and 20 photos on the theme of "Beauty of Nepali Scene and Culture" by Zhang Jianming, former military and air attache of Chinese Embassy in Nepal, are on display in the exhibition, organized by China Study Center, a Sino-Nepal friendship organization of Nepal.
At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Basudev Tripathi, vice-chancellor of Royal Nepal Academy said, "Nepal and China maintain friendly relationships in various fields, which can be further strengthened through this kind of exhibition."
Wang Wentian, political councilor of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, said Nepal and China have enjoyed a long history of friendly interactions and exchanges, especially in the field of culture and arts.
"I am sure that the exhibition will further deepen the understanding and friendship between our two peoples," Wang added.
In August 2002, Zhang held a one-day painting and photograph exhibition in Kathmand titled "China and Nepal linked by mountains, " when he was military and air attache of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal before his retirement.
