A Palestinian was killed and another moderately injured on Monday by Israeli troops' gunfire near the eastern Gaza Strip border with Israel, Palestinian medics said.
Eehab al-Nabaheen, a 22-two-year-old from al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, was killed and another Palestinian moderately wounded by Israeli soldiers, said the medics.
Meanwhile, Israeli army sources said the two Palestinians were trying to infiltrate into Israel when soldiers opened fire.
However, Palestinian security sources said the two were not militants and apparently were trying to get into Israel to look for jobs.
The security sources also called on the Palestinians to avoid approaching Israeli military lookouts and bases lest their lives would be endangered.
The incident came just one day before a summit between Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas due on Wednesday. The meeting, second of its kind, will focus on coordination between the two sides over the coming Israeli Gaza pullout.
Monday's new bloodshed dealt another blow to a shaky ceasefire that the two sides declared at the Feb. 8 summit.
