CNC to set up its own international bandwithIn light of the sharp increase of Internet users and wide use of broadband service, network industry in China is now under heavy pressure. To quench the "network thirst" due to the upcoming Olympic Games in Beijing, China Network Communications Corporation (CNC) plans to build a new submarine cable to realize its own international bandwith. Zhu Lijun with CNC said recently a 350-km-long submarine cable would start from Qingdao, a port city in east China's Shandong province and enter Asia Netcom, a subsidiary of CNC, connecting the regional submarine network of ROK, Japan, China's Taiwan as well as HK SAR. The project has been authorized by the Chinese government and will take less than six months to complete. As the official partner for fixed communication service Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, CNC will provide fixed communication products and relevant services, Internet services in particular for Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and Paralympics, Beijing Organising Committee for the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), Chinese Olympic Committee and Chinese sport delegations to participate in the 2006 Winter Olympics and 2008 Olympic Games. Zhu further noted that the construction of submarine cable would directly satisfy the huge Internet demands during Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. By People's Daily Online
