US President George W. Bush on Tuesday had a telephone discussion with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf on terrorism and efforts to address problems at the United Nations, the White House said.
The two presidents also talked about the troubled relations between India and Pakistan and US-led efforts to promote democracy in Afghanistan during the 15-minute telephone call, the White House spokesman Scott McClellan said.
Pakistan is a key US partner in the war on terrorism. It has also sent thousands of troops into its northwestern tribal districts bordering Afghanistan to hunt Al-Qaeda militants who sneaked across the frontier after the ousting of the Taliban in late 2001.
Asked if the two leaders discussed CIA Director Porter Goss' remark that he has an "excellent idea" about where terrorist leader Osama bin Laden is hiding, McClellan said that Goss "was referring to the general area he's believed to be in."
