The National Drug Control Committee has decided to launch a 3-year-long anti-drug people's war nationwide starting from this year. The objective is to curb drug sources, drug harmfulness and emergence of new drug users.

According to the Anti-Drug Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security the people's war is divided into five campaigns. The first is prevention and education campaign to launch anti-abuse and treatment publicity and education work at three levels, namely, for the entire society, the youth and the high-risk groups so as to reduce the emergency of new drug users.

The second is to organize well anti-abuse and treatment campaign, launch big-survey, big-treatment and big-assistance activities for drug users and curb the harmfulness of drugs in a comprehensive way.

The third is to launch campaign to block sources, to deploy comprehensive moves to block overseas drug sources in the southwest, northwest, northeast and southeast coastal directions so as to curb drug sources.

The fourth is to launch anti-drug crackdown campaign and fight four battles, namely, case investigation battle, outflow drug traffickers crackdown battle, planting ban and elimination battle and anti-drug battle at entertainment sites.

The fifth is rectification campaign on chemicals, narcotic and psychotropic drugs.
