117 died of Heilongjiang flood

The on-site flood relief office in Ning'an, Heilongjiang Province in northeast China announced at a press conference on June 21 that altogether 117 people were confirmed dead, 105 of them students, in the flood which hit Shalan town.

Wang Tongtang, secretary general of Mudanjiang Municipal Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, said another eight people were confirmed victims of the flood, in addition to the 109 death toll upon the end of rescue work on the previous day.
