Suicide car bomb hits police station in northern Iraq
font size

A suicide car bomber hit a police headquarters in northern Iraq on Sunday, killing four police officers and wounding 14 others, police said.

The explosion took place at about 7:00 a.m. (0300 GMT) when a suicide bomber drove an explosive-laden vehicle into the headquarters in the center of Mosul, some 400 km north of Baghdad.

US and Iraqi soldiers sealed off the area as ambulances rushed to the scene to evacuate casualties to hospital.

Iraqi police and security forces have been frequently under attack by insurgents who have attempted to cripple the Shiite-dominated government since its formation in late April.
