South Korea decided to provide an shipment of 150,000 tons of fertilizer to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) in addition to the 200,000 tons of fertilizer that Seoul has sent to it earlier this year, said the South Korean Unification Ministry on Sunday.
The first batch of 5,000 tons will be shipped from Yeosu port, some 450 kilometers south to Seoul in South Jeolla Province, to DPRK's Nampo Port on Monday, South Korea's national Yonhap News Agency quoted a spokesman of the ministry as saying.
South Korea completed sending 200,000 tons of fertilizer on June 19 as agreed in May at an inter-Korean vice-ministerial meeting at the DPRK's Kaesong city.
The DPRK asked for the additional fertilizer aid from South Korea during latest inter-Korean ministerial talks held in Seoul earlier this week.
