Suicide bomb attack hits Iraqi army base, killing 16: US army
font size

At least 16 people were killed and some wounded in a suicide bomb attack on an Iraqi military base near the northern city of Mosul on Sunday, the US military said.

A suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt blew himself up among a crowd of Iraqis, including soldiers, at an army base in Kasak area between Mosul and the flashpoint town of Tal Afar to the west, the military said.

The blast was apparently followed by another, an Iraqi military source said, adding the other blast was likely a car bomb.
