The anti-government guerrillas have abducted about 90 students and 250 villagers last week from western and far-western Nepal, respectively, the army confirmed here Monday.
The guerrillas abducted last Wednesday at least 90 students from Nepal Rashtriya Secondary School in the western district of Gulmi, some 300 km west of Kathmandu, Royal Nepalese Army Public Relations Directorate said in a press statement.
The guerrillas herded the students towards Darling area of the same district, the statement quoted eyewitnesses as saying.
Similarly, the guerrillas last Thursday abducted over 250 villagers from Beldai area in Kanchanpur district, some 600 km west of Kathmandu, the statement added.
The insurgents have repeatedly forced the students to take part in their "ideological" and military training programs, and usually free them unharmed after a couple of days.
