US President George W. Bush will admit that the work in Iraq is difficult and dangerous but is making progress in his prime-time speech on Tuesday night at an army base in Fort Bragg, NC.
"The work in Iraq is difficult and dangerous. We have more work to do and there will be tough moments that test America's resolve . .. The American people do not falter under threat, and we will not allow our future to be determined by car bombers and assassins," Bush will say, according to excerpts released by the White House.
"Like most Americans, I see the images of violence and bloodshed. Every picture is horrifying and the suffering is real .. . It is worth it," Bush will say.
June 28 marks the one year anniversary of the US transfer of sovereignty to Iraq. However, recent polls have shown support crumbling for the US presence in Iraq and more than half saying that invading Iraq was a mistake.
