Hong Kong Post Tuesday issued special stamps to mark the 600th anniversary of Zheng He's maritime Expeditions.
The special stamps issued by Hong Kong Post include three stamps with the pictures of Zheng He and his fleet. China Post and Macao Post also issued stamps to mark the anniversary.
Postmaster General Allan Chiang said at the ceremony that the seven adventures of Zheng He to the "Western Oceans" have been passed down from generation to generation and the successful expeditions extended Chinese influence in culture and technology as well as fostered trade and goodwill.
He said the production of this set of stamps would enrich people's understanding of the greatest adventurer and navigator of our nation.
At the ceremony Tuesday morning, Postmaster General Allan Chiang, deputy commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Xie Xiaoyan, and Board Chairman of Macao Post Carlos Alberto Roldao Lopes marked the issue of the special stamps by erecting the sails printed with images of stamps issued by post departments of the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao respectively.
