CNOOC's acquisition of Unocal should not be interfered by political factors, FM spokesman
font size

Since China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) announced its acquisition of the US oil company Unocal Corp, the US side, especially the US Congress has showed great concern about the proposed deal. At the Press Conference held by Ministry of Foreign Affairs on June 28, 2005, Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao expressed his opinion on the issue.

Liu said that Sino-US economic and trade cooperation is in the interests of both countries. CNOOC's acquisition of the US oil company Unocal is a normal business operation between the two enterprises, and should not be interfered by political factors.
