US, DPRK to meet through New York Channel
font size

The United States and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) will meet again through the New York Channel on Thursday, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said at a briefing on Wednesday.

Joseph DeTrani, US special envoy for negotiations with the DPRK, and Jim Foster, a State Department official in charge of DPRK affairs, will travel to New York to attend the meeting, McCormack said.

"Mr. DeTrani and Jim Foster from the Korean desk are expected to attend this meeting," he said.

The United States has said that it uses the New York Channel to send messages to the DPRK, but not for negotiations. The last time the two sides met through the New York Channel was on June 6 this year.
