Iraqi forces capture Zarqawi's aide in northern Iraq

Iraqi forces have captured an aide for al-Qaida leader in Iraq Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in a village in northern Iraq, police said on Sunday.

Abdul Hamid Mustafa al-Douri, a top aide for al-Zarqawi and head of al-Qaida branch in Salahudin province, was captured on Saturday by a joint force of Iraqi police and army in a village in northern Tikrit, a police officer from the provincial police, told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. Douri, a relative to Saddam Hussein's top aide Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri and a former engineer in Tikrit municipality, is suspected of being behind several car bombings on Iraqi police and army forces, the officer said.

Douri's group has been active in Tikrit, Samarra, Dour and Baiji in the province, the officer added.
