Syrian forces killed a member of a radical group who was trying to illegally cross the border into Lebanon, the official SANA news agency reported on Sunday.
" Syrian security forces killed the militant ... who holds an Arab nationality, in an armed clash as he tried to cross the border into Lebanon illegally along with members of a radical group that he leads," SANA said.
It only identified the slain militant as MZ.
Two soldiers were also killed in the clash and 34 non-Syrian Arab militants arrested, SANA said, without saying when the incident occurred.
Syrian forces also found an "isolated house" used by the extremists, where forged passports and other documents were found, SANA said.
The United States has accused Damascus of not doing enough to stop anti-US Arab militants from crossing into neighboring Iraq.
