Dell and Napster announced on July 6, 2005 that they will form an alliance in providing college students in the US with legal digital music download service.
The service will combine Napster's digital music service and Dell PowerEdge 1855 blade server together. Colleges and universities in the US could download Napster's music library to cache or store on Dell servers. Through this service, network could still maintain relatively high data processing speed while providing dozens of students with simultaneous music download.
The University of Washington is the first client to sign up for the package with Napster and Dell and will launch this service this autumn.
