A spokesman for Hong Kong Security Bureau said on Thursday that as of 9:00 p.m. Hong Kong time (1300 GMT), Hong Kong Immigration Department has received 27 requests from Hong Kong residents for assistance.

He said "the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government is liaising with the Chinese Embassy in Britain and Hong Kong Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong to follow up the incident to offer any practicable assistance to Hong Kong residents if necessary."

He said Hong Kong residents in London who need assistance following the explosions in London Thursday may contact the Chinese Embassy in Britain on its hotline, (44) 20-72998432 or (44) 20-72998430, or via its fax (44)20-76369756.

He added that they may also call the Immigration Department's 24-hour hotline, (852) 2829 3010.

Latest reports from London said at least 40 people have been killed and up to 1,000 injured in a wave of apparently coordinated bomb attacks across the British capital.
