Blair: London will stage fantastic games

Tony Blair, the prime minister of Britain, said in Glaneagles, site for the G8 summit, that London has the chance to stage a "fantastic" game.

Blair said the 2012 Olympic Games will help keep London a greatcity, which is to host the Games for the third time in history.

It is a momentous for London, Blair said, adding that he will contact Chirac who has been doing his best for Paris to win the bid for the Games.

The British-French relations seemed to have been hurt badly on Tuesday after French President Jacques Chirac delivered a series of insults to Britain as London and Paris fought to secure the 2012 Olympic Games.

Chirac, chatting to the German and Russian leaders in a Russian cafe, said, "the only thing (the British) have ever given Europe farming is made cow."

"You can't trust people who cook as badly as that," he was reported to have said to the two leaders.
