A reception was held Friday in Beijing to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of China-Bolivia diplomatic relations.

Cheng Siwei, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) and president of China-Latin America Friendship Association, attended the reception.

Li Xiaolin, vice president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), said the relations between China and Bolivia have progressed smoothly since the two countries forged diplomatic ties 20 years ago. The mutual high-level visits have increased and bilateral cooperation in the fields of politics, economy and culture have been further expanded.

With the advancement of the all-round relationship between the two countries, their non-governmental exchanges have also been strengthened, Li added.

She said CPAFFC has established long-term friendly cooperative ties with some friendly associations of Bolivia. Various exchanges between the two peoples have greatly promoted mutual understanding and friendship.

Bolivian Ambassador to China Augusto Arguedas said the two countries have conducted fruitful cooperation in diversified fields. The visits between the two governments, parliaments and armed forces have saw a year-on-year increase.

He said the Bolivian government will continuously contribute to promoting China-Bolivia cooperation and friendship.
