The third batch of Chinese peacekeeping forces to Liberia ready to go

A solemn resolution-pledging rally is held in a group army of Shenyang Military Region in northeast China's Jilin Province on July 7, 2005. China' third batch of peacekeeping forces to Liberia is mainly based upon the engineering regiment of this group army. With high morale, the 275 soldiers of the engineering unit are fully prepared to head for Liberia.

China has already sent two batches of peacekeeping forces to Liberia at the invitation of the United Nations. The third batch of Chinese peacekeeping forces, consisting of 585 troops in engineering, transportation and medical units, will be replacing the second batch soon.

The engineering unit has been formed for more than a month. In order to carry forward the prestige of China and Chinese army, to display Chinese army's image as a mighty force and a civilized force, many educational activities are thoroughly carried out, such as PLA's fine traditions, mental hygiene, and general knowledge about peacekeeping operations and foreign affairs. Trainings on 21 subjects are also carried out, such as defense services, English for peacekeeping, medical knowledge, epidemic prevention, and professional skills, etc. The raising of materials like accouterments, provisions and equipments are carefully organized. All preparations for the replacement are already completed.
