Nigeria will supply gas to Equatorial Guinea as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries, Presidential Adviser on Petroleum and Energy Edmund Daukoru said Tuesday.

Equatorial Guinea is currently building an liquefied natural gas (LNG) project for only one train and needed additional gas to make it a two-train project, Daukoru was quoted by the official News Agency of Nigeria as saying.

"We will supply them the gas from our eastern Niger Delta offshore gas facility which is difficult for us to harness and is near their country," he added.

The presidential advisor said Nigeria would also train Equatorial Guinea manpower in oil and gas given the nation's over 40 years experience in the oil gas exploration business.

According to Daukoru, Nigeria has put in place a technical team to work out details of cooperation between the two western African nations.

Nigeria was interest in taking up oil blocks in Equatorial Guinea through the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, he said.
