CAS developing supercomputers

The Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) announced on July 12 that it expects to complete by the year 2008 a 100 teraflops supercomputer it is developing in collaboration with the Chinese Dawning Company, and by the year 2010 a 1,000 teraflops supercomputer started at the same time.

According to sources, the research and development of 100 teraflops and 1,000 teraflops supercomputers of independent intellectual property rights helps facilitate the industrialization of China's high technologies, and can also contribute to national security and economic security.
