Israeli army has imposed a total closure on the West Bank and Gaza Strip until a further notice following Tuesday's bombing in Netanya, Palestinian security sources reported Wednesday.
According to the sources, the closure came hours after an Islamic Jihad (Holy War) suicide bomber blew himself up in the Israeli costal city of Netanya, killing three women and wounding at least 90 others.
"The Israeli authorities imposed strict and full closure on the West Bank and Gaza Strip due to Natanya bombing operation," said a statement issued by the Palestinian Interior Ministry.
In the meantime, Israeli army also adopted other strict measures Tuesday night during an urgent meeting held in the headquarters of Israeli Defense Minister Shaoul Mofaz.
Well-informed sources said that Mofaz ordered a suspension of talks between Israeli and Palestinian officials.
Mofaz also canceled his meeting scheduled on Tuesday night with Palestinian Civil Affairs Minister Mohammed Dahlan, they added.
According to reports of Israel Radio, Israel is also expected to postpone the transfer of the West Bank city of Bethlehem to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA).
An Israeli cabinet meeting was held Wednesday morning where Prime Minister Ariel Sharon issued order to target the leaders and activists of Islamic Jihad in the Palestinian territories.
