FM spokesman: DPRK's return to six-party talks no linking with China's aid

The decision of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to return to the six-party talks should not be linked with the aid given by China, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said at a regular press conference in Beijing on July 14.

China and DPRK maintain a normal nation-to-nation relation with regular economic and trade exchanges, said Liu, and China has offered aid to DPRK for the nation and its people to tide over difficulties and develop its economy and society.

"However, I do not think such aid should be linked with DPRK's decision to return to new round of six-party talks," he said.

China and DPRK enjoy a good-neighborly cooperative relationship, and both countries are very pleased with the relationship, he said.

"The two countries will continue to make active efforts for the development of bilateral relations and the fundamental common interests of the people of the two countries," the spokesman added.
