HK container throughput up 4.6 pct in June

Hong Kong Port Development Council said Friday that local container ports handled 1.9 million containers in June, up 4.6 percent over a year earlier.

Taking the first six months of this year together, Hong Kong container throughput went up 1.3 percent, to over 10 million containers.

The Kwai Tsing Container Terminals recorded a throughput of 1.2 million containers last month, a 10.4 percent increase over a year earlier.

Taking the first six months together, the throughput of Kwai Tsing Container Terminals went up 11.1 percent over the same period last year, with 6.8 million containers handled. Other terminals, however, recorded a 12.2 percent decline, with a throughput of 3.9 million containers.
