font size

A Russian-made plane of Equatorial Guinea crashed on Saturday, and the 55 people on board were all feared dead, said reports received here.

The Antonov plane, owned by local company Equatair, took off mid-morning from an airport near the capital, Malabo, but soon disappeared on radar screens.

An Equatorial Guinean official was quoted by the reports as saying the plane crashed near Baney, 17 kilometers (10 miles) from Malabo.

The plane was on an internal flight between Malabo on Bioko island and the city of Bata on the mainland.
