The Chinese version of Harry Potter 6 will be issued in Beijing on Oct 15 2005, the People's Literature Publishing House revealed.
To avoid pirate, the publishing house has begun soliciting a Chinese name for the book from readers. The book will not adopt the name "Harry Potter and Half Blood Prince".
The book will be translated by Ma Ainong and her sister Ma Aixin, who have translated the previous Harry Potter series to Chinese.
To prevent pirate, the publishing house has begun to solicit name for the book from Aug 16. Readers can give names to the Chinese version on the basis of the English version they read. "The name 'Harry Potter and Half Blood Prince' can be translated to Chinese literally. But 'half blood' also means 'half human, half beast'; so readers can give a name on the basis of their understanding of the content," said Pan Kaixiong, vice president of the publishing house.
Harry Potter 6 has two editions, the American and the English. The Chinese version is based on the English edition, for it is authentic "Harry Potter".
The translation of Harry Potter 6 has already begun. The translation of original book's 540,000 words needs one and a half months. 800,000 to one million books will be published and the price of the book will be no higher than 59 yuan.
