The Communist Party of China (CPC) hopes to further strengthen the friendly exchanges and cooperation with the Papua New Guinean political parties, a senior CPC official said in Beijing on July 19.

Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remark during his meeting with Rabbie Namaliu, Papua New Guinean Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration.

Wang spoke highly of the achievements China and Papua New Guinea have scored in various fields and the present development of the party-to-party exchanges and cooperation between the two nations.

Wang said China is ready to step up friendly cooperation with all the political parties in Papua New Guinea in a bid to push forward the bilateral relations.

Namaliu, also a leading member of the Papua New Guinea United Party (the Pangu Party), said the party-to-party exchanges between Papua New Guinea and China have deepened the mutual understanding and friendship and he hoped the future exchanges will exert more influences to the development of the relations between the two nations.

The two sides also exchanged views on issues of common concern.
