Google to set up China R&D center in Q3
font size

The search engine giant Google announced July 19 it will establish a R&D center in China to expand the fast-growing Chinese market.

"The opening of an R&D center in China will strengthen Google's efforts in delivering the best search experience to our users and partners worldwide," said Alan Eustace, vice president of Engineering at Google.

The R&D center, headed by Dr. Kai-fu Lee, the former corporate vice president of Microsoft's Interactive Services Division is expected to operate before this October.

Sources say Google is recruiting staffs in China at present and will probably announce establishment of Google China and the R&D center in August.
