One American killed in Egypt's bombing attacks
font size

The United States confirmed on Monday that one American was killed in Saturday's bombing attacks in Egypt's Red Sea resort Sharm el-Sheik.

"There was one American citizen who dies as a result of these bombings and her name is Kristy Miller," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said at a briefing.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family. It is a tragic event," the spokesman said, refusing to providing other details.

Earlier on Monday, US President George W. Bush and his wife went to the Egyptian embassy here and signed a condolence book for the victims of the deadly attacks in Sharm el-Sheik.

A string of suspected car bombs struck Sham el-Sheik early Saturday, killing as many as 88 people in the deadliest attacks in Egypt in nearly a decade.
